The "Museum Summit 2025," a premier international event in the museum sector, commenced in Hong Kong on March 28, 2025. Co-hosted by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China and France’s Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts, the forum brought together global museum leaders. Mr. Li Mengdi, Chairman of Silkroad Visual Technology Co., Ltd., was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony.
The forum brought together over 30 renowned cultural and museum experts and leaders from 17 countries under the theme "Going Beyond." Focusing on four key interdisciplinary approaches — "Museums + Tourism," "Museums + Technology," "Museums + Sustainability," and "Museums + Wellness" — participants collaboratively explored innovative strategies to address 21st-century challenges and opportunities facing global museums.
Confronting rapid shifts in societal conditions, cultural trends, economic landscapes, political dynamics, and geopolitical realities, museums worldwide are proactively modernizing operations to transcend traditional limitations and redefine their societal roles. Experts and scholars at the forum shared professional insights, introducing fresh perspectives to guide institutional evolution and advance innovative strategies for the sector’s future.
Museums + Technology: Dynamic Interaction, Cultural Outreach, and Heritage Stewardship
Mr. Li Mengdi, Chairman of Silkroad Visual Technology Co., Ltd., presented a keynote address titled "Museums: A Flourishing Culture and Representations" during the "Museums + Technology" thematic session.
Li Mengdi believes that technology should always serve content: as technology advances, cultural reflection should become the soul of the work. Whether in virtual exhibitions or digital restoration of cultural relics, only by infusing humanistic spirit and philosophical inquiry can we transcend the superficiality of technology and convey a power that resonates deeply.
Contemporary museums are no longer static "cultural warehouses"; they are organic entities driven by curatorial logic, narrative content, the value of exhibits, operational vitality, and digital technology. Digitalization not only empowers cultural relics to "come to life," but also enables immersive interaction and virtual curation, allowing audiences to engage in dialogue with history.
In recent years, from the global popularity of the dance drama "Yong Chun" to the record-breaking box office success of the film "Ne Zha," Silk Road Visual has been involved in various cultural phenomena. Chinese culture is going global in diverse forms, with Chinese stories and the spirit of craftsmanship deeply resonating with audiences around the world.
The "Museum Summit 2025" has provided a perfect conclusion to this spring, sparking thought-provoking discussions on numerous topics. As digital technology empowers cultural heritage and Eastern philosophy meets innovative expression, Silkroad Visual continues to use technology as its pen and culture as its ink, crafting stories that resonate with the times in a space where the virtual and the real blend together.
